Recipe - Aromatic Rice

Rice Cooker

 Ingredients for 3 Adults

  1. Basmathi (330 grams)
  2. Saffron (4- 5 strands)
  3. Coconut milk or Water.  (Double than rice using the same measuring tumbler. water or coconut milk or water+coconut-milk [75%-25% if coconut milk is thick, 50%-50% if coconut milk is watery].  Usual preferred method is water+coconut-milk 
  4. Staranise (3)
  5. Cardamom [Ilaichi] (5-6)
  6. Cloves [Loung] (6)
  7. Cinnamon Sticks [Dalchini] (Half stick approx. 2 inch)
  8. Bay Leaves (2 leaves approx 6 inches. If leaves are big or small add equivalent)
  9. Ghee (2 tablespoon)
  10. Cumin [Jeera] (optional)
  11. Salt (2 teaspoons)

Cooking Method for 3 Adults

  • Basmati Rice
    1. Wash it thoroughly until water doesn't look murky white
    2. Transfer to rice cooker bowl
    3. Add water and/or coconut milk. (Tip - Add coconut milk first and then wash the same class and use that washed water as the water for the rice). 
    4. Add salt and saffron.
  • Spice saute (to bring out flavor)
    1. Take a small pan 
    2. Heat Ghee.
    3.  Add: 
    • Staranise, 
    • Cardamoms, 
    • Cloves, 
    • Cinnamon (Break it and add),
    • Bay leaves (Break it and add)
  • Add the saute mix to the rice bowl and let it cook in the rice cooker
